Pushy parents turn matchmaking events into ‘marriage fairs’ (10)

It is traditional for Chinese parents to expect their grown-up children to marry well, settle down and have a family. As more and more unmarried youngsters are too busy to look for their other half, their parents have to take up the responsibility to help them find the future spouse, which gives rise to many regular blind date corner in parks in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. This kind of events has become a typical phenomenon across the country.

Some parents even set up a booth in the park. In order to make their children's information more visible, some simply write down information on cardboards and stick the copies on the ground or hang the copies on tree branches. Some parents prefer to print it out, for the sake of beauty, and make it more like a resume, which includes the child’s age, height, education, job, salary, house and hukou.
