China Railway Museum in Beijing is the only professional museum of the railway system in China. It was formerly called the Museum of Science and Technology of Ministry of Railways. In 1978, the Ministry of Railways Science and Technology Museum was officially established under the administration of the Ministry of Railways. In September 2003, it was renamed to China Railway Museum.

China Railway Museum specializes in collecting, storing, displaying, exhibiting and studying the cultural relics concerning railways. It is divided into three exhibition halls: Zhengyang Gate Museum, Eastern Suburb Museum, and Zhan Tianyou Memorial Museum.

Among the three exhibition halls, Eastern suburbs Museum has the most collections, as can be seen in photos provided. The museum is located in No.1 Courtyard, Jiuxianqiao Beilu, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The construction area of Eastern suburbs Museum is 20,500 square meters, with two exhibition halls, namely locomotives exhibition hall and comprehensive exhibition hall. The museum was officially open to the public on September 1, 2003. The locomotives exhibition hall has a collection of about 100 locomotives of different types at different time periods of China's railway development.

The existing oldest Chinese locomotive - No. 0 steam locomotive, as well as "Mao Zedong" and "Zhu De" locomotives that were named after the meritorious Chinese great men, are displayed in the museum. There are also a variety of different models of steam locomotives made in different time in Britain, America, Japan, Russia, Belgium and other countries. Here you can see a variety of passenger vehicles, such as vintage special bus and national leaders' official cars. There are also different types of rail seat car, sleeping car, dining car, baggage cars and other cars with different functions.

Opening hours of the Eastern Suburb Museum: 9:00-17:00 (Stop ticketing at 16:00), closed on Monday

Ticket prices:

1. 20 yuan/person for adults, 10 yuan/person for students
2. Preschoolers (should be accompanied by parents) or the disabled: free
