CAIRO, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived here Wednesday afternoon for a several-hour visit to meet Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, as the Israeli operation in the Gaza strip is continuing, official news agency MENA reported.

Clinton's visit to Egypt came following short visits to Israel and Ramallah, amid news about negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a cease-fire agreement.

Israel's aerial offensive over Gaza entered the eighth day on Wednesday, as the death toll on the Palestinian side has reached 137 as of Tuesday night, with over 800 wounded, while five Israelis were killed due to rockets fired by Gaza militants.
