SANAA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Yemen-based al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) on Thursday issued an audio response to the ongoing French military invention in Mali, advising France to cease aggression and instead focus on its own economic interests.
"The French government's military intervention in Mali does not serve the internal interests of French people," the group said in the audio message posted on Jihadi forums on Thursday night.
"Dear French people, your government's military aggression on Mail will bring you economic woes and will let your troops meet their doom as you have already learned a lesson from your government's previous wars in Afghanistan," it said in the three- minute long audio, which was obtained by Xinhua.
"Do not throw dust in the eyes by pretending that you come to help and protect Mali. If so, then where were you all the past years for protecting Palestine from the Israeli crimes, and where were you for protecting the Iraqi and Syrian people and other oppressed peoples in the region if you were honest," it said.
