E China road accident kills 6, injures 3

JINAN, July 1(Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and three others were injured in a car accident that occurred in east China's Shandong Province on Monday, local police said.

The accident occurred around 5:58 a.m. on a section of highway in the provincial capital of Jinan.

An SUV crashed into a guardrail and overturned, killing six people at the scene and injuring three others.

The highway links Beijing with the city of Fuzhou in east China's Fujian province.

The injured have been sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
