90 pct of Chinese products qualified: AQSIQ

A product quality supervision and random check conducted by the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) last year shows the qualified rate of Chinese products is about 90 percent, up 2.3 percent from the earlier year, and about 150 kinds of products from 18,000 enterprises involved in this spot check, according a products quality supervision conference held on Jan. 23.

Mei Jianhua, chief of the oversight division of the AQSIQ, said quality and supervision system will establish consumption warning mechanism to provide information for consumers.

The AQSIQ confirmed wires and cables, children products, writing materials, automotive fuel, forest products, chemical fertilizer, water saving products and building waterproofing roll as major products for the promoting action of quality inspection in 2013, Mei said. The division will also conduct random inspection for 148 types of goods for everyday consumption, major industrial products and popular products consumers concerned.

The AQSIQ has built risk monitoring system to supervise 18 kinds of about 1,200 products. The administration will draft a treatment regulation of the random inspection results and improve public announcement system for rechecks of unqualified enterprise. Meanwhile, guiding opinion and management method for risk monitoring of quality safety will be formulated by AQSIQ.
